Bear Creek Adventures delivers kayak hire at The Vine in Kinver, guided canoe trips for schools and groups, school activity days, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, first aid training, and outdoor events across Kinver and the River Severn.

Based near Bridgnorth, we deliver outdoor activities across the Bridgnorth, Kidderminster and Kinver area, including the River Severn, Kinver Canal, and local scout camps. We work with families, schools, youth groups, teachers, and outdoor professionals, offering safe, well-planned experiences led by experienced staff with excellent local knowledge.

Kayak hire on the Kinver Canal is available at weekends and during school holidays, launching from The Vine Inn, Kinver. Our 90-minute self-guided trips are ideal for families, friends and small groups and are suitable for ages 5+.

Paddle at a relaxed pace on our stable sit-on-top kayaks, enjoy the peaceful canal setting and finish with food or a drink at the pub.

Available April to September.

 

Prices: £12 per child · £15 per adult + online booking fee.

School Activity Days at Local Scout Camps
schools & groups

Our activity days at local scout camps offer schools a full day of outdoor learning and fun. Based at Kinver and Ryhdd Covert Scout Camps, sessions include woodland activities, climbing, archery and team challenges. Ideal as an end of SATs reward, Year 7 team building or enrichment day. Activities are delivered by qualified, DBS-checked instructors, designed to get young people outdoors, active and working together safely.

Delivered on the River Severn, our Duke of Edinburgh canoe expeditions support Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. As an approved DofE provider, we deliver a fully structured programme including training, practice and qualifying expeditions. All equipment is provided, with experienced staff offering appropriate supervision and assessment. We are AALA licensed and hold £10 million public liability insurance.

Prices: £60 per pupil, per day.

Guided Events & Seasonal Outdoor Sessions

We run a programme of seasonal outdoor events across the River Severn and local waterways. These include guided canoe journeys, SUP sessions, and activity days for home education groups. Events are designed to be relaxed, well-organised and accessible, with all equipment provided. Led by experienced instructors, they offer a great way to enjoy the outdoors, try something new and paddle with others in a supportive setting.

Our River Severn canoe trips for secondary schools and uniform groups offer a full day on the river focused on teamwork, confidence and practical paddling skills. Students and young people travel together by canoe, learning basic strokes, river awareness and group decision-making. All equipment is provided, with experienced staff delivering safe, well-structured sessions. We are AALA licensed and hold £10 million public liability insurance.

Based near Bridgnorth, we have over 40 years of combined paddling and expedition experience on the River Severn and surrounding waterways.

 

Our team works on the river and canal throughout the season, delivering kayak hire, canoe trips, training and expeditions, and understands how conditions change day to day.

 

We operate primarily:

  • Along the Kinver Canal

Frequently asked questions

Where are you based?
We deliver activities in a variety of locations in Shropshire, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. Our kayak hire and kayak sessions take place on the canal in Kinver (at The Vine Inn). Our River Severn Canoe trips take place on the River Severn, with most starting in the Bridgnorth area. Our Activity Days take place at either Kinver Scout Camp or Rhydd Covert Scout Camp. First Aid courses take place in Alveley or at your venue if you prefer. 

Do you provide all equipment?
Yes. All paddlesports equipment is provided, including buoyancy aids and safety equipment.

 

Do you run school canoe trips?
Yes. Canoe day trips for schools are a key part of what we offer, as well as DofE Expeditions.

 

When is kayak hire available?
Kayak hire on the Kinver Canal runs from April to October, on weekends and during school holidays.

What is the minimum age for kayak hire?

Children have to be a minimum of 5 to kayak on the canal, when accompanied by an adult. 

Can I take my dog on a kayak?

Yes you can. We recommend booking a 3 seater so that your dog can sit comfortably in the middle. 

 

How do group bookings work?
Schools and groups, including corporate groups can enquire directly to plan dates, activities, and pricing.
